Major Russian Strikes Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's aerial assaults have led to electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Several individuals were injured while residents in the city's east were left without electricity and dealt with disruption to water supplies, according to municipal leaders.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, as reported by local officials.

Russian forces has intensified attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from partner nations to apply pressure on Moscow.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the US, the EU and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and applying sanctions," he wrote in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and over thirty rockets targeted the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and repair crews were striving to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles hit power facilities and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to city authorities.

Area administrators said the urban area came under intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and three other people were injured.

The strikes follow nights of bombing campaigns in the region, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

The whole nation is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to identify.

Government officials told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the country's energy grid, with attacks already affecting energy systems.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were preparing for additional strikes.
