Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a individual discovered that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the pattern of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then found many other marked vehicles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
Municipal representatives announced they were working "to resolve the case" and have asked to the public for information.
A high-ranking political figure commented the attack rendered him without words and required to be solved rapidly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
